It featured the protagonist of my story, Dahlia, and the co-protagonist, Ulmer. Well, here they are again 🙌🏻 I'm a true fan of enemies-to-lovers trope, so from the very beginning I wanted them to have that dynamic. But the real question here is why should they be considered enemies in the first place? The story takes place in a city called Nexus, capital of the empire with the same name. It's a highly militarized and authoritarian place, so the less imperialist regions are oppressed by the central government (in a very summarized way). Here comes the interesting part about these characters: Dahlia comes from Frimir, the region where the empire began, and she also attended the Imperial Academy, perfect ingredients for creating an arrogant and pro-imperialist girl 💅. On the other hand, Ulmer comes from Libehco, the other region where anti-imperialist sentiment is strongest. In fact, he collaborates with the Republicans to overthrow the government and the Empress. For various reasons I won't reveal (🤫) they end up collaborating to achieve a common goal: destroying the Empire (that's why I draw them wearing the same outfit but in different colors). Although they collaborate for a long time, their beliefs remain very different, and their homeland will be one of the main reasons why they can't stand each other (at least at first, you know 🤭). P.S. 1: In this story, skin color matters. It's not a random choice, and it will be, along with discrimination based on place of origin, a topic I will address as a form of social criticism.
