Interesting note: mercury based makeup was used to pale the face (think Queen Elizabeth I) so if he was also using it topically for the skin symptoms it also would’ve unnaturally paled him, literally giving him that goth rocker look!

I think the first Goth was likely from the Middle East. So many bands utilize aesthetics and chord progression from that region. North Africa and the Middle East- Sufi poets and devotional musicians have shaped our music more heavily than Europeans in my opinion
