I remember reading that Paganini would sharpen his pinky nails so that his violin strings would smoke when he was performing to scare his spectators. I love him infinitely for this.

Interesting note: mercury based makeup was used to pale the face (think Queen Elizabeth I) so if he was also using it topically for the skin symptoms it also would’ve unnaturally paled him, literally giving him that goth rocker look!

Fun fact: Paganini is said to have had either Marfan's syndrome or Ehlers Danlos syndrome (undiagnosed ofc), which gives hypermobility and/or "long" features, contributing to his "devilish" looks✨ I have hEDS myself and we're often neurodivergent and talented. From what I know of Paganini and his high-risk life, I'm certain he had ADHD. Which might explain his virtuoso skills✨
