I want to preface by saying I'm not American so I absolutely understand if this is wrong of me to say but. If they'd just chosen to have Nani start studying Marine Biology that would have been one thing. Because after all her giving up surfing and not continuing it because of Lilo makes sense. A career as professional surfer means she would have to travel all over meanwhile studying for a degree means she stays relatively in the same spot, maybe she does some daytrips for certain classes. I do not approve anything the live action does and this is more a what if scenario.
