Let’s get real for a second… 🗣️ Talking about hemorrhoids is NOT sexy, but you know what else isn’t? Suffering in silence. 🤦🏽‍♀️ After having four kids (including a set of twins! 👀), my body has been through it, and one of the things I’ve struggled with for years is hemorrhoids. I’ve told doctors before, tried every cream, suppository, and over-the-counter remedy you can think of, but nothing really fixed the problem. Then last year, things got worse, was actually bleeding. That’s when I knew it was time for a real solution. I found an amazing gastro doctor (shoutout to my husband’s old BayCare connections! 👏🏽), and she recommended rubber band ligation, also known as banding. Basically, they place a small rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid, cutting off its blood supply so it shrivels up and falls off within a few days. The best part? It’s quick, done in-office, and doesn’t require anesthesia! I was hesitant at first, thinking it would be painful, but honestly, all you feel is pressure. The first 24 hours are uncomfortable, so I made sure to go straight home and reposition myself on the couch a million times (hence the video 😂). The procedure is done in stages, and today was my third and final treatment! 🙌🏽 Since starting, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my daily life, I can move around more comfortably, and best of all, I’m no longer bleeding. I wish I had done this sooner! Why am I sharing this? Because so many people suffer in silence, thinking this is just something they have to live with. If you’ve been dealing with hemorrhoids (especially postpartum mamas!), just know there are real solutions beyond creams and home remedies. Talk to your doctor, you don’t have to just deal with it! 💬 Let’s normalize these conversations! Have you ever put off talking to your doctor about something embarrassing? Drop a 🙋🏽‍♀️ if you’ve been there!
