Frollo is arguably the best Disney villain, there’s no magic, no tricks, he’s just evil, and a extremely realistic evil, he’s so self righteous and excuses all his deeds on other people and things, Disney really peaked with hunchback

that's because disney was adapting previously written stories that didn't have "focus" groups or ceos in the writing rooms. now they don't take risks and rewrite old movies to white wash it.

The complexity that Frollo has in spite of his lack of redeeming traits is astonishing tbh. He’s undeniably evil, with a genocidal goal and a motive that isn’t even remotely sympathetic. His complexity is rooted in is his deep-seated hatred masked as a religious duty that feeds his egotistical self-perception as a pious and righteous man of God. But let’s not forget his inner conflict and trouble coping with the fact that he sinfully lusts for a woman whose part of the very group he’s been marginalizing. His nature is so personally compelling to me as a Christian who hates the real life counterparts that Frollo represents. A prime example that a villain doesn’t have to be misunderstood to be compelling.

Let’s make this clear. Most of them are not evil for the sake of being evil. They’re egotistical, raised in power, lacking empathy. Frollo? Raised on religious righteousness to the extreme. There’s reasons for it. We just don’t need to see it and empathize with it

As of now, Kiros is the closest villain we have to a classic Disney villain, catchy song ✅, and actually threat ✅, irredeemable ✅, and although he has a backstory (with all the white lions being banished for their fur) his actions completely overshadowed that by a landslide

The thing is none of these villains are evil for no reason. Frodo was born into a corrupt and misogynistic religion, dr facilier was trying to repay his debt to the spirits he got his powers from. We need to bring back villains that aren’t just needlessly made appealing, relatable, and forgivable
