all animals are Allah SWT creation, they are meant to be loved and to be taken care of. restrictions do apply of course with dogs like you can't have them in your house but they be guard dogs and for visually impaired.

For those confused, it’s fine to touch a dog as long as you wash your hands afterwards, also you can’t touch a wet dog, you can have a dog as a pet but only keep it out side, that’s why in Muslim countries we have dogs but their not indoor dogs they get their own home in a dog house but can’t keep em in colder countries

The same fellow Muslims crying "haram" in the comments must also say the same for cats, sadly to them any animal is dirty and it comes from a total lack of compassion + ignorance. Allah didn't just create us, get off your high horse. He created other sentient beings too, they're a bridge to our better selves. Kindness to them is kindness to His creation. I don't trust people who have no compassion for animals, I don't care if it's a dog or a pig. Just because we cannot keep them inside as pets doesn't mean they aren't deserving of respect.

Dogs are not haram, but they are considered najis (impure), especially their saliva. According to most scholars, particularly from the Shafi’i and Hanbali schools, if a dog licks you or your clothes, you must wash the area seven times, one of which should be with soil (or something like soap, in modern practice). Merely touching the fur of a dry dog does not break wudu or make you impure.
