You can also show it with the unit price. sin (x) gives the y-coordinate and cos (x) the x-coordinate. If you take a point on the circle, you can construct a right triangle, on which, according to the Pythagoras theorem, cos² (x) + sin² (x) = 1² applies, and 1² = 1.
