Wow interesting. I don’t have DID, but am autistic and traumatized and I’m noticing I have ocd loops. It’s been pretty bad this past week, glad I saw this video. Maybe I’ll give your journaling idea a try.

It’s so so interesting to see how OCD can play out in such a variety of ways… for us it’s the same mechanism (looping) but totally different in how it’s being used I think

This is exactly how it is for me. And it’s to avoid feeling the feelings of my inner child, my OCD loops. One hundred percent. And I’m 33 as well. Thank you for sharing.

I also sit with that feeling, and journal, until I’ve processed the feelings out. Meditation will often bring up the specific memory, and I can process it and ground myself in my current (safe!! Yay!!) reality. But yeah, that jolt of adrenaline sucks..

I so appreciate this. I’m doing parts work and I want to try this writing thing. It’s really hard for me to do in my mind only when I’m in session

The book titled Who's Talking by Chris Hinton is a great read about exploring your parts (the villagers) and ways to work with them. Highly recommend. ❤️❤️or IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy. Hopefully this helps someone. It works .

really appreciate you describing your process 🙏 I also find singing the thought loop itself connects me to the feeling of age that's coming up. it is cool to see the trust coming sooner, but dang does it take consistency ✨

🌺You touched on autistic men dating ADHD women. Have you done anymore research on that? 🌺

It’s interesting to hear this described as OCD because what you describe (looking for certainty to get rid of distressing physical symptoms) is what my therapists have always called GAD and the unproductive looping has always been defined specifically as “worry” (not colloquially but how a therapist understands worry as seperate to planning, consideration etc).

I love that you were there for her ❤️. having had trauma with the way I grew up/the inconsistency, I can totally relate to the looping. I know I have GAD, and the research I've done on OCD doesn't seem to fit me right. I don't have rituals, but maybe I don't realize what is considered a ritual 🤔. (my autism gets confused by the specifics, lol).

My therapist helping recognize the ocd thoughts and acknowledging them as they are happening has been a game changer for me because then I can assess them almost like a third party and be like huh that’s interesting and it takes away their power for me

I feel this in my soul. I have contamination OCD so my loops are tied to health. It feel like you’re sinking into quick sand. I hold ice cubes to make my brain completely focus on something physical

I really want to hear more about this! my parents faught a lot growing up. I've recently become very aware of my OCD loops a lot. Its like my MO for anything exciting or scary. It can present itself like postpartum rage or bpd. I woke at 4am this morning worrying about all the impacts this will have on my now 3yo 😞

i just figured this out with my system too that just DESTRACTION works. I either distract or I SOLVE THE PROBLEM, Or push the problem to a point where there is at least A CONCLUSION. Like I either FIND THE THING that could have made it never happen in the first place or I SOLVE. And just now this MONTH for the first time ive been able to distract myself from misunderstanding and fights

So during erp I learned how to do maybe maybe not sentences. You can not reason with ocd you have you give in maybe it was your fault maybe not. OCD makes us doubt ourselves even if we know what happened. This helps me soooooo much. For
