His name is Augusto. There are three that are the main cats. Augusto (orange) he’s the og of the colosseum. Tigrotta (Black) and she doesn’t really come out so it’s a special treat to meet her and Cesarina. A few strays come and go as well as there is a cat door for them but these three live in the colosseum full time.

In Rome, feral and stray cats are legally protected by law which makes harming them a crime. Local authorities are responsible for providing free neutering services, and cat caretakers (gattara) are officially recognized for their role in managing cat colonies. A dear friend of mine who has since passed was a “gattara” in a suburb of Rome. ❤️🇮🇹
