A fire like that on a Pellet smoker means 1 of 2 things: 1. He didnt start it with the lid open to prevent fire back flow. 2. He doesn't clean his pit often and the build up caught fire.

Looks like you primed it too much overloaded it.With too many pellets. That's why you have the big flame. Also. While starting at leave lit open until you hear fan kick on and no smoke.

Keep your smoker clean. Before each use, pull the grate, plates, and check your fire box. Vacuum out excess ash, remove grease or this is what happens.

All he had to do was unplug it and wait for the fire to go out. The fan running was feeding the fire air. Everytime he opened the lid it fed more air. Choke the fire of air, problem solved. Then clean all the grease and go back to smoking 😂

I have a ZGrill and mine done this a couple weeks ago cooking ribs for Memorial Day. I got lucky because I walked out as soon as the temp started to sky rocket.

I had the exact same model and have experienced the same thing. If the smoke is white it’s good. If it’s yellow/billowy like that then your fire pot has overfilled and you have a fire down in there.

You have too much ash and soot in the burner cup. Vacuum it out and keep your grill cleaned
