@irelandamvmtv: "The amount of parents that just feel like they're left out in the dark, there's just no support system there." @ericroberts44, Dr. Sarah Cassidy and Solicitor Steven Whelan discuss the critical gaps in the system for the assessment of need process for children with additional needs & the real impact it has on families seeking help. Dr. Sarah Cassidy extends an invitation to the HSE to further consult and collaborate with workers to come up with a solution. #IrelandAM #assessmentofneed #caradarmody #sna #additonalneeds #autismawareness #snas #ireland #irishtiktok #news

My son has been waiting for AON since 2021 just after his first birthday, he is now 5 and last I heard in March they told me they are only starting 2023 applications! We have spent thousands on assessments and now on waiting lists for private therapies, absolutely disgraceful

can we talk about how there are meant to be "lots of jobs for SNAs" but it's Last one in first one out and the education board only tells schools at the end of the year, how many SNAs will be funded.

One of the biggest issues is the lack of funding for education for new psychologists and mental health advisors . Susi grants only extends to IT but no other sector so people wanting to get degrees in these sectors are unable to access education due to limited financial support

My son has just recently had his assessment,as a result of having to push for it for 10 years he now, on top of having an autism diagnosis, has such a high level of social anxiety that he qualifies for home schooling. The system left him fall through the cracks but thankfully he's in an amazing secondary school now

Parents should be able to pay privately for the assessment and follow up therapies that the child needs and then get the money refunded similar to national treatment purchase fund

I got the AON in May of this year. I had already paid privately for an adhd assessment the private one was 3hrs x 2 sessions and a huge amount of surveys. the AON was 30min chat she had with my child and no forms completed? a joke of a system!
