@jeff.dorson: News from the Humane Society of Louisiana: Happy Memorial Day. We hope you're enjoying this holiday. Let's give thanks to those who served to ensure our freedom—which includes the freedom to help animals in need. Not every country approves of or supports these activities, but we're grateful we have resources and laws that protect them. We're also reviewing the recent case involving the seizure of 42 neglected pit bulls and the subsequent arrest of their owner. The local media followed the story: and it was widely shared on social media. (https://www.knoe.com/2025/03/26/concordia-parish-sheriffs-office-arrests-man-43-counts-animal-cruelty/). This case was complicated due to the logistics and lack of resources in Concordia, which does not have a public shelter or animal control services. Fortunately, we formed an animal-fighting task force late last year to prepare for these types of scenarios. Sure enough, not long after we formed, law enforcement contacted us. Concordia Parish called us after receiving a tip about dozens of dogs tied to trees in a small town in their parish. We activated our task force, and multiple agencies reviewed the information, developed a game plan, and assisted with removing the 42 dogs, some of whom likely had lived their lives at the end of heavy chains. We especially thank international hero Tia Torres and her crew for helping execute the search warrant and using her staff and large trailer to remove and transport the dogs. But the work is far from over. The 42 dogs still need homes, and we still need funds to fix them. We're passing the proverbial hat again so we can cover their vetting. If you're interested in adopting, please call or email Stacey, their caregiver, at [email protected] Lastly, we recently held a cruelty investigation workshop with the Livingston Sheriff's Office and Humane World for Animals (formerly HSUS). Forty-six officers, animal control personnel, and two State Police deputies attended. In the months to follow, we plan to offer additional mini-works (3 - 4 hours long) throughout the state. To get these wonderful, long-neglected dogs fixed, please donate here: https://gofund.me/9e0c4608 Or share. @followers #mustlovedogs#mustloveanimals#HumaneSocietyofLouisiana
Please make sure they go to homes with ppl who understand how to handle animal aggression, i wouldnt want them getting put down cuz of someone not understanding their genetics
