I recently met a boy at the funeral for one of my son's friends. he pulled me aside and told me my son saved his life when they were in HS. the boy was overweight and made fun of. every morning before school this boy would walk the track in an effort to be healthier. still kids made fun of him. my son and some of his friends, the boy who had died included, just started walking with him and encouraged him to keep going. soon the mean kids who made fun of the boy just stopped. I never knew this until that day. I asked my son about this and why I never knew. he said simply, it wasn't a hero move for recognition. he was just trying to be a decent human being to a fellow student. there was no reason why I should have known. I know you are as proud your boy as I am of mine. what a sweet and gentle soul.
