@cleoabram: How deep could you survive underwater? Let’s say you grab a tank full of regular air and start diving down… You’d quickly pass the depth a typical open water scuba diver can go. But as you go deeper, something strange starts to happen… We’re land animals! It’s amazing we can do this. We have more videos about the deep ocean coming, so follow for more! #deepocean #deepblue #deepest #scubadiving #animation
13 hours just it back to the top you can't eat drink sleep or go to the bathroom

But the gas physics at those incredible depths can be tricky. Exert yourself a little too much and you produce more CO2 than your scrubber can handle and you’re dead.

does anyone like get that ear pressure thing if they go deep

isnt it so that we just react to co2 being in our lungs but if you were to breathe helium you would still die?

What if we remove returning out of the equation. How much farther can one go then?

The “bubbles” only occure when ascending too fast ! That’s why you do (long) stage stops to degass. When you don’t do this you get decompression sickness, also called “the bends”.

With normal air you can dive to a maximum of about 68 meters because then the pressure of the oxygen in the air exceeds 1.6 bar and then acts as a nerve poison

Marc L :
oxygen gets toxic at partial pressure 1,6. so with 21% air mix that is sorrunding pressure at 7,6 bar or 66 meters of depth. And som have managed to go deeper with training.

what about breathing a specially formulated oxygen-rich liquid like what is depicted in the movie The abyss?

This is a cool video, but I'm not sure that you answered the question you posed in the beginning. You told us the deepest a person has ever gone, not necessarily how deep it's possible to go.

To be fair you were using 1.4 pp02 which is used in recreational dive to be safe, for the limit of the oxygen to be toxic you
