I do think that’s fine but I currently have friends who happen to be girls and if I’m dating someone and they force me to cut them off then I’d probably break up with them as that’s unbelievably controlling. Meanwhile if she was fine with my female friends I already have but doesn’t want me to have any more that’s different

I think that’s extreme. The most common issue I see is that one guy or girl that you don’t want your partner being friends with because the friend is sketchy. Case by case in my opinion

Honestly it sounds like she doesn't know what an associate is. Like most people you know are your associates, but only a few are actual friends. Friends are people you spend the night hanging out with and build deep bonds with, you're not doing that with every person you meet
