I do this with an NPC named Lemon, they appear as the same race but opposite gender of whomever they are talking to, they go around collecting stories of adventures. thing is they are actually the King in Yellow collecting stories for a plan of theirs.

we have Saafi, a little calico cat mage who appears in all worlds and timelines. she's been a khajit in oblivion, a fortune teller in barovia, a jedi in a star wars campaign. (she is based on the cat in my pfp.) Every time one of my friends takes a turn dming, you can bet it won't be long until Saafi appears
