Yaay congrats!! Some venues require music to be off/ have noise ordinances after certain hours so make sure to ask about that. We also asked about open flames (as some venues don’t allow them) & if you’re doing an open bar make sure to check if they require the bar to close 30 min / an hour before the end of the reception bc some venues do that too!

Open vendor policy, cleanup / setup teardown policies ( we got stuck cleaning up EVERYTHING at the end of the night when we had assumed that we were only responsible for our items we were bringing), off season dates/ savings, what they do with day of coordination, hotels/lodging availability for guests/ think about uber/transportation availibility too- I got married in the middle of nowhere so no Ubers lol, but hired transportation through the venue!

I booked a venue who didn’t really have any control of my vendors besides the bar. They gave me a list of people they have worked with but didn’t have to use! Pick the vendors YOU want. We went with a newer venue and absolutely LOVE them

What the bridal suit looks like, and time you can get in! And do they have an indoor option for chance of rain! Also See if they have a vendor room to store all the behind the scene decor and prep too!

make sure to ask how long you have the getting ready space for or what is the earliest time that you can enter it — this will determine whether or not you and your bridal party will have to start getting ready offsite at a hotel or Airbnb

Make sure you like the getting ready spaces if you’re getting ready at the venue! Good lighting, enough space, etc. this was super important for me! Also any hidden fees like cleaning fees etc. if it’s outdoors ask if they usually get a lot of bees, mosquitoes, etc. and make sure you like the backup rain plan!

I made a canva template full of questions that I customized for each venue & saved as a pdf on my tablet (or you could print) to take notes and it was SO helpful!! I'd be happy to share the template with you if you'd like 🫶🏻

2027 bride here!🤍💍 I have our first venue book in the beginning of June! Definitely get who you want to take pictures/video don’t feel pressured to use what they recommend be sure to voice you don’t prefer who they have and share who you would want!

Make sure you ask and LOVE the rain plan. If you don’t like it, don’t book it and keep looking. You don’t want to be stressed if it does end up raining on your big day.

Definitely ask which rentals are and are not included - and if they’re not included what will be needed, if they assist in planning or day-of coordinating, set up and tear down, if they provide the catering staff/bartenders

We booked with a venue where we only had to book the bar and bartenders through them and they didn’t have a preferred vendor list. That way i could book the other vendors that I wanted. Also, number 1 thing to ask the venues if there’s any outdoor space is what is their rain plan and confirm that their rain plan doesn’t cost extra - on the venue’s we toured their rain plan was adding siding to a pavilion that would have been 7k extra.

I recommend using a venue that has an open vendor policy — typically this can be a little bit more expensive but I personally feel like it is rare that you will love every single vendor on a venues preferred vendor list

I would stay away from venues that only use certain vendors :/ it’s super limiting & you don’t want your wedding to look like everyone else’s- it will if you have the exact same vendors! Def ask what all rentals they include. Tables, chairs, decor, etc. some venues up charge you to use certain chairs! So annoying haha
