@christina_nomadak: Come to Alaska for the natural disasters. I do a lot of emergency preparedness training, and right now the focus is on the volcano that’s about to erupt. If you love a natural disaster, come to Alaska — we’ve got em all. #alas#alaskau#naturaldisastersv#survivalr#emergencypreparedness
then when something happens in the Aleutian Islands I've got people calling me all across the lower 48 asking if I'm ok. I'm fine. I don't live there. I don't even live anywhere close to there. 😂

in my village Chignik Lake we call 125 mph winds just a breeze 🤣 roofs fly off windows get busted in random debris flying everywhere and we dont ever make the news haha. When we flood we use skiffs to get around

I live in Wasilla, Alaska and my apartment has air conditioning! Which I found out at the end of the summer of 2019 when the weather was 90 degrees!

😁 False. I took the 911 call when the Wasilla Kentucky Fried Chicken literally blew away from tornado force winds. 😂 One minute they had chicken, the next minute they had no walls. That was a crazy night. Crazy crazy night.

Hurricane level winds up here are never called hurricanes. I don’t really know why not. I tried to look it up, but I was just told about the difference between hurricanes and typhoons, etc..

it's not heard about because us Alaskans know how to handle this sh!t, even weather that reaches colder than 40 below. I've walked to school at 40 below many times. North slope easily gets colder without wind. Fairbanks 40 below is average. Alaskan are just built different.

Actually, Alaska has had 4 recorded tornados since the 1950’s but they were classified as EF1 or less, but a tornado is still a tornado lol 😂

I love how we are WITH the natural disasters. The 7.2 quake? People went to play in the broken roads. Spurr? Lets go to the point at sunset with icecream and watch the smoke puff. Flooded road? CATCHING FISH IN THE ROADS. We are a strange kinda people. Gives us something to focus on for a bit.

Also, after that last earthquake we were able to get a winterized asphalt plant operational in 24 hours, and people were driving on the collapsed on-ramp within the week.
