Yeah my dad tells a story about his dad, a coal miner in WV, busting through a wall in a coal mine and seeing a group of feral people dancing around a fire or something, the coal miners built back up the wall and left them alone 😳

Living in Appalachia even tho not remotely deep for us here we all know the stories, wrong turn is based on real people, it’s real, also this was like 70 years ago as to why they were losing livestock and you handled that yourself as to why they fallowed the trail

Yes my old boss used to work in the Appalachians when he was like 19 and the feral people lived in huts and they would kill each other all of the time and the police would just let them and leave them alone 😭

I definitely believe it because in the 1920s early 1900s people were eating people still cuz food was so scarce and specially during the Great depression and they saw that in 1954 very believable

Backpacked through the Appalachia once and ran into people with rifles and no shoes (think Deliverance) deep in the woods. Luckily we were in a larger group. Never doing that again..

these are tall tales they tell kids to scare them away from the shiners in the woods. lot of good storytellers in appalachia.
