I have just stuck to my small group of fellow adults in my fandom. Since fandom became ‘mainstream’ so to speak, it’s been *so* different.

yeah it's a lot stricter, everyone used to be freaky and free i miss that but I kinda get it because now it's more safe on apps like tiktok for the younger fans of things

1 There’s a serious resurgence of purity culture and it happens everytime the new generation enters fandoms. 2 bc of the lockdown having more “normal people” enter fandoms and they don’t know to act. 3 the general resurgence of conservative mindsets bc of 🍊

me too, but it depends on the fandom. a lot of the fandoms i’m in rn are super old and have mostly died out. but for some of the fandoms im in that are bigger/more relevant, i can see your point. younger fans don’t want to be seen as cringe anymore. and everyone wants to be seen as a perfect person. it’s annoying but that’s just how things are leaning these days
