11 years ago I received my official call from the chief of Police stating that I was hired . So just like that at 40 years old I began my career in law enforcement. I spent nearly 5 years with the city of Corsicana, a little over a year with the Ennis ISD and now 4.5 years with Sheriffs Office. Life has not been easy for me, before my career and even more so after with the loss of my eldest daughter Catherine almost 8 years ago. I’ve worked hard in my career to further my education in becoming a Certified mental health peace officer A hostage negotiator A basic instructor And have obtained my advanced peace officer license, which is the highest I can go until I get more years and a field training officer. 2 years ago I was privileged to received the Kiwanis award for Deputy of the year. Last year I promoted to rank of Corporal on patrol and this year I promoted to Sgt in CID. I have and continue to use my career to be of service to others in my community. I never gave up when life felt helpless in my grief, but have instead used my pain as fuel to bring hope to others struggling. I continue to work on myself mentally and physically to become the best version of myself. Today I feel so grateful to have a career I love, a good group of guys to work with, and to work for a department I can finally call home. I’m really proud of myself for my sobriety, my healing and my career. Is it crazy that I’m grateful for all the pain? For The Love Of Catherine💜#sober #femalecop #womeninlawenforcement #sgt #female
