I would clarify that to 3 close/ ride-or-die friends, then about 3 more “close” friends, and about 6-7 “friends” who you can hang with but probably wouldn’t give your kidney for (and vice versa)

Hitting your 30s in an epoch of social disarray is a masterclass in what matters. One uber principled/solves any problem with zero stress/can drive anything/shoot zombies/is an emt friend for outdoor activities like hiking and emergencies, one super tech friend for tech activities like making music and building speakers. Both selected for memetic resistance to l/r propaganda/taboo geopolitical topics and thus favorable survivability as a unit in social distress/collapse scenarios. One 450lb 6'5 tank of a levite dude who has memorized all there is to know about all the things and can discuss any niche topic. Two ride or die bros from guatemala who like to fish, work on cars and do odd jobs with me. Us three plus emt are mountain goat fit and competent as a unit. Tech friend and tank friend live out of state. 5 friends, two long distance, all shared special interests covered. See friends maybe twice a month. Literally perfect. Still have occassional online chat with five other hs/college friends which I suspect is something other people here have as well and seems to serve as a sort of secondary backup network for the tiny primary networks most of us have now. A village substitute.
