Mandela affect isn’t that? It’s when a lot of people for some reason have a memory of something being a specific way and learning that it’s not that way but has actually never been that way

There are a ton of conspiracy theories as a result of the Mandela effect, but it is not a conspiracy theory itself.

the only thing keeping me believing in it is that I woke up one day and my favorite movie that I've watched dozens of times had a completely different title and it took me forever to find what it was apparently actually called

Its sorta the core of all conspiracies. "My reality" has to be real, no matter other input. If input tells otherwise its wrong in some way. Mandela stops there and other conspiracy theories start blaming lizard aliens or sum for why input is not same as "my reality"

You’re right, I’ve made this argument, and when people say these things, it so easy to create false memories so when people talk about an effect it catches on. People just remembered wrong or someone created this false memory when you heard it in a TikTok.

but it's not about the lack of a memory. it's about the presence of many.

The laughing cow one that’s been going around REALLY pisses me off because i had a burning hatred for that cow as a kid and remember her to the smallest detail. She never had a nose ring. When i tell people this they start arguing me and telling me that *I* am the one remembering wrong and not them, or that I’m lying to them. What reason would I even have for lying about that goddamned cow???

Thank you I’ve been saying its also an excuse for racism sometimes like its called the Mandela effect bc people thought Nelson Mandela died in prison. he was imprisoned in a violent apartheid and nobody stop to think that it was might be propaganda to make people give up hope and stop resisting? No i guess its more likely that we jumped timeless
