I had 32 eggs retrieved (I reacted really well to my meds), after the retrieval I was in unimaginable pain. I could not walk but had to force myself to walk to not develop clots. I had four failed transfers, one resulted in MC and

I’m so sorry for what you went through! It is an extremely traumatic experience on top of everything else you’ve gone through with IVF. I can somewhat relate. I got late onset moderate OHSS, 2 days after I found out my fresh transfer worked! I went to the ER in extreme pain in my upper abdomen and they saw fluid in my abdomen but didn’t know why it was there or where it was coming from. I wasn’t aware of OHSS so I was scared something was wrong with my liver or gallbladder. And since I was early in pregnancy I didn’t want to do a CAT scan. They sent me home, and the pain only got worse. I went back 2 days later and that’s when they finally admitted me in the hospital and diagnosed me with moderate OHSS. To go through all of that and be in so much pain only days after the best day of my life (positive pregnancy test) felt so defeating and unfair. I’m still recovering and not 100%. Each day I feel a little better though. I hope you recover soon!!!

Only someone who's gone through the process of stimulations and egg retrieval will understand the trauma. sending hugs to you dear.

There is nothing easy in this whole process, it’s hard when you can’t even get a diagnosis as to what was causing all this. And I would be scared too going to do ivf again but I’ll risk it all though just to get pregnant.

My er was also extremely traumatic the second time. The first er was super easy although I was extremely nervous about anesthesia. The second er I didn’t feel right. I was in excruciating pain. I feel like everyone downplays how serious these surgeries are. I swore I’d never do it again. It was so painful and at times I was terrified. Thankfully it all worked out but it makes me think twice about wanting to go forward with another er.
