actually had a cigarette sting, which turned into a complete WTF moment. store had recently changed to a scan code to log into the till, it beeps. I got the smokes, scanned them, it beeped, not logged in. had to clear the screen, it beeped. scan my card and as I went to scan the pack the girl ran out of the store. owner and I looked at each other. then a woman came in and said we failed the sting. told her nothing rang up and the video can be pulled, she walked away

it is really ridiculous to not sell alcohol just because someone helped them put the groceries on the belt. in my state that's not illegal.

I had a guy present a revoked license (holes punched by the state). I said it was not valid per state law. his mother walks up with hers and I said I couldn't sell to her because I knew she was buying for someone without a valid lesson. the guy tried to come over the counter at me!

I was nearly fired for almost this exact thing. The ONLY thing that saved my job was it was my 1st offense EVER and they saw on the camera that I did check their IDs but I read one of them wrong (he was actually 20 & not 21 yet). They were secret shoppers. I was still written up & started bringing my reading glasses to work just to check IDs to make for SURE I was reading the date exactly right.

People always fight with me and complain when I ID them, but I haven't and won't fail a sting. Nobody is worth losing my job or potentially facing jail time.

Worked at ⛽️station & customer called the pd on me cuz the 2nd person didn't have ID. they showed up and trespassed her. I laughed so hard the whole time. Person behind them was the sting. We passed. 🤣🤣

I got yelled at numerous times because I was following policy and asking both ppl for IDs. then they would claim that they're not together when clearly they were just to get the alcohol

It’s a bull shit rule I was grocery shopping with my child when he was a minor he touched nothing and they refused to sell me anything just because I brought my CHILD with me. Haven’t stepped foot in a Walmart since

When I first worked at 7-11 in the 90s they drilled into us about that all alcohol & tobacco sales required ID & me just out of high school with a chaperone for any beer & tobacco sales I denied 10 my first day.

When I was 16 and worked at AMC we had a policy of regardless of how old someone looks they have to be ID for alcohol. I had a coworker that I was training that did not card an old man and I said something to her and she got snippy with me about it and then carded him. He was a secret shopper. She got a warning that time but after I stopped working there I found out that she got fired because she got caught with another secret shopper not carding for wine. 😂

My teen and I went to Walmart and I got a bottle of wine with other stuff. They wanted my 14 year olds ID. I told them she was 14 and didn’t have one. They wouldn’t sell it to me. 🙄

I learned that rule a billion yrs ago when I was a kid, helped dad with his beer when he was in a scooter thing, and we didn't actually know it's a law. they let him put it back, and take me to the car, then had an employee help him get more lol oh the early 90s

While I understand the reasoning behind such a policy, as someone who is disabled and has a lifting limit it’s frustrating that someone who is assisting me with putting in and lifting things out of the cart (usually my teen) is assumed to be consuming the item if they touch it to lift it.

I hated when people would get mad at me for carding them at DG for alcohol and tobacco products. On new of my first days the manager told me that the guy that was at my register was buying for someone else. I told him that I needed both his and the ladies, she was a ways back in line, IDs. He was so mad because I wouldn’t sell since she didn’t have one.
