I've heard that the main issue was that they didn't know if they would be getting more seasons, so they only wrote stories for 1 season instead of a long overarching tale.

the ratings dropped by season 3 and they had no choice but to put the last season on the Nickelodeon website

“It’s bad bc Nickelodeon didn’t give them all the seasons upfront” well they should’ve written some good standalone 12 episode arcs then. It’s not impossible

Nickelodeon stomped out a lot of what the writers wanted. They did it with ATLA too. That’s why the new series is hopefully going to be even better. Because they’re not doing it under Nickelodeon or at least they weren’t idk if that’s still the case.
