@washingtonstatedot: The group chat ate 6,000 tons of concrete in one weekend. What, like it’s hard? 💅 (the group chat’s name is “grazing excavators” btw) And just like that, the old I-405 bridges over 85th Street in Kirkland are no more. We recently used a 53-hour weekend closure to demolish those bridges, smooth out pavement on the southbound I-405 off-ramp to NE 85th Street to prep for future striping work aaaand tear down a noise wall near the NE 85th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405. Phew! Traffic is now cruising on the new, shiny, uneaten I-405 bridges you see at the end of the video. We have more overnight work coming later this summer, including drainage, barrier installs, sign bridge prep, and continuing progress on the future NE 85th St. interchange.
