I understand why the government is taking a tougher stance with China, especially around national security. It’s unfortunate that some Chinese students are caught in the middle, but if there are real risks tied to espionage or influence campaigns, I think the U.S. has every right to protect its institutions. It’s about securing our future, even if it means tightening who gets to study here.

I’ve been a college advisor for over 20 years. International students typically pay full price for their education at US colleges. In fact, many college use international students to generate revenue which assists in aiding US students.

To clear any confusion: Chinese student comes to the US, gets free education from US grant (so tax payers pay for it), Chinese student graduates and then leaves US and returns to China and provides nothing to the US in regards to work or infrastructure. So why are people up in arms that we’re cutting funding for foreign nationals who receive a free education and then give nothing back to our economy why…..? I know Chinese students who will be impacted by this. Its crazy to believe we've become fearful of progress and science. Chinese students help publish papers in American schools that boost the university and provides research that enables companies to function. Now theyll do it in China instead...

my tuition is 60k per year, rent is 30k. Overall, plus food, travel and utilities 100k every year. I bet I support the US’ economy more than many of you. Btw, I am a business major, I don’t know how that would threat the country🤷
