@kpixtv: The life cycle of a "giant asparagus" plant, known botanically as being from the Asparagaceae family, is coming to an end as it begins its agave death bloom in Oakland, California. At nearly 27-feet tall and believed to be several decades old, the plant will now begin a once-in-a-lifetime flowering event, attracting pollinators and dropping up to 1,000 seeds and new plants known as pups before dying. Once the agave flowers, a death bloom is inevitable, and nothing can be done to stop it. Agaves can take anywhere from 10 to 30 years to bloom, though some varieties may take even longer, up to 80 years. #asparagus #agave #agavedeathbloom #oakland
