i do not think that a bodhisattva would endorse endlessly seeking personal pleasure through short term relationships, then discarding people like objects when we are satisfied with the “experience” of loving and knowing them. buddhism is a religion of charity, chastity, and moderation- i dont see in what world that is conducive to embracing personal pleasure and self discovery above fidelity and community.

Exactly! Life is so much more beautiful and enjoyable when you begin thinking of people as experiences. I stop worrying about outcomes from relationships while i’m with them and instead stay wholly in the moment and experience it to the fullest. Because when it ends (most do) i have met and connected w someone and sometimes they change me in little or big ways

I agree, we are a mosaic of everyone we’ve ever loved. There’s a Chuck Palahniuk quote “Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known.” And I think that is what makes us unique, this happenstance combination of experiences.
