You dont need to remove cover for using special tool on this engine. The proper tool goes in between camshaft (2 piece tool). also you used wrong tensioner wich isnt automatic, oe one is automatic ✌️you also find proper one aftermarket.

I have Opel Astra 2015 changed chain kit on it and it cost me 920 ,it's not so bad I think.And fully service to wit water pump

No need to remove cam cover just a 2 pieces that got in between the camshaft sprockets there like £15 off Amazon and work a treat
