One visit was all it took for something ancestral to awaken in me - a pull, a knowing, like the land whispered: “You are mine. You’ve always been mine. The song of the coquí wasn’t just beautiful - It felt like home. Not the kind made of walls - the kind made of rhythm, roots, and love. So when I see people trying to spray that sound away… Trying to erase that voice, that culture, that living symbol of who we are - It breaks something in me. Because they don’t understand: They’re not just trying to quiet a frog.They’re trying to quiet our story, our spirit, our sound. But we are not quiet. We have never been quiet. The coquí is small, yes. But its song is mighty - like us. Like every Boricua who’s ever been told to shrink themselves. We are not small. We are not pests. We are power wrapped in song. 🎨 I guided every detail of these images to tell a story only a Boricua could tell - with pride, power, and purpose.
