Yes! I'm constantly saying he was strangely beautiful. Penny Dreadful depicted him pretty well.

I wouldn’t say he was “beautiful”. He was composed of beautiful parts, but his skin was too tight and his eyes just weren’t right. He was uncanny, but not hideous.

Mary Shelly would've been into monster romance genres we have now. I have no doubt 💯

Priyanka Taslim (author) :
English teacher here! So the book says, “His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful!—Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion, and straight black lips.” Essentially, what this means is that Victor *selected* disparate features that were meant to be individually beautiful—stealing them from corpses—but when they came together, *because* they were taken from 💀 bodies, they ultimately looked horrifying. Now it’s entirely possible Victor’s horror at his own actions affected the lens he saw the creature through, so the way I took it is that he gave an uncanny valley feeling to the people who witnessed him. Probably not as obvious or as grotesque as how most media portrays him, but also not necessarily what we’d consider beautiful. Just my take but I’m always here for hot monsters if others interpret him in adaptations and reimaginings as being horrifyingly beautiful and not JUST horrifying!

The Creature was NOT described as gorgeous. Only his body, hair and teeth are described as beautiful. Victor explicitly says the Creature’s face is hideous and frightening. I have a whole video about this on my page. Not sure where this common misconception started, but the text makes it clear that the Creature’s face is off-putting.

naw the monster wasn’t “beautiful.” Victor picked out his specific features that were beautiful by themselves, but when put together on the creature they looked ghoulish and horrible

Two unpopular opinions. The Creature shouldn't be traditionally "beautiful" but should fall in the uncanny valley. Also the creature rejects the name Adam in favor of Lucifer so Adam should not be it's name

Perhaps it's necessary to reread the book, he was not attractive. People were horrified when they saw him. A whole village ran him off because they thought he was a monster.
