non-Japanese people must remember that Japan uses 3 alphabets. Kanji, Katakana, and Hiragana. with Kirakira, the Kanji does not match the Katakana for your name. it’s like you have two different names

they aren't banning the names, they are banning the 'spelling' of names and requiring that they are spelled with the modern characters and not what's essentially 'puns' using the traditional characters

At first it makes sense, but it restricts names to only being japanese. If you’re American and have a kid after moving to japan, you couldn’t even name him Mark or Josh. Not to mention names from any other country too
