If you have hollow or chubby cheeks, this technique will help. Because this technique is working on all three main structures of your under jaw and cheeks. The way your cheeks look - it’s not only about skin or fat. It’s also about structures beneath your skin, especially your buccinator muscle, your fat pad, and your Masseter that can shift your jaw, thus change the look of your cheeks. Here’s the catch: when the Masseter is tensed or when the Buccinator is over-contracted due to poor swallowing or unconscious clenching, it compresses nearby tissue, drains skin elasticity, disturbs volume balance, and provokes lymphatic stagnation in some cases. That’s why the cheeks never look youthful. They either flatten, suck in, or look very bloated. And it’s not only a lymphatic surface problem. We need to address the deep structure. In this technique, we are using the edge of the Masseter to gently release the jaw tension. We also go deeper, targeting the Buccinator and coordinating this with the tongue muscles - especially the ones that press and move the tongue sideways, like Styloglossus. Those are three main parts. Players working together. Doing this technique for a minute each side, three times per day, will help to restore cheek symmetry, balanced tightness, better skin, and muscle control. Make sure you don’t over-shift your jaw. Start slow. This is a functional exercise that will give amazing results if you do it correctly.
