Funny enough the creator doesn't like Jinshi, he's just a main character because people like him.

A take that I have on MaoMao growing up in the Verdigris House is that there's something to be said about the links between SWs and folx w disabilities, given the shared history of being targeted w obscenity laws.

Light novel maomao is even more autistic. I love her. If you’re into reading, you should check out the light novels since s2 Apothecary Diaries is practically caught up with the manga

I am so sorry to say this, but if you love autistic characters you will probably love one piece 😂 and I know it's too long and too many people hype it up, but Luffy is so AuDHD and most of his crew is some fascinating flavor of neurospicy

I just watched Cells At Work and it's so so tropey but it never takes itself seriously and it does a lot of referential humor. it's so goofy and cheap at times but idk kind of refreshing in a way

Maomao uses the social hierarchy to assist her masking and it's honestly something I wish was easier to apply to present day. Give me established and clearly stated rules!!!

Honestly... I hadn't watched anime since I was a kid in high school. Frieren, Apothecary Diaries, and Dungeon Meshi brought me back to anime.
Great stories, little to no fan service (and self awareness when it's present), and they all provoke introspection or thoughtfulness. The 'tism coded characters are just an added plus.
It's not harem anime and OP protagonist #10375201047 that we're all sick and tired of seeing. They're well written stories. It's a breath of fresh air from the slop.

I know it’s just a side note but I love that both of these are female leads 😫 also that scene when she slaps the lady in waiting was so good 😖

I enjoyed the manga for a while, but something I noticed kinda took me out of the whole thing. I think the Apothecary Diaries doesn't like women very much. like, it's set in old world china, so there's certainly going to be some make bias and women are going to be limited to what they can do. that being said, every villain in the show is a woman. every now and then you get a man but he isn't punished the same way. the women are shown to be humbled, knocked down a peg. the men are either forgiven, rehabilitated, or punished off screen. it was a really jarring detail I noticed.

I recommend dungeon meshi! As an autistic person, I see Laios, Falin and Kabru all as autistic! I really relate to both Laios and Kabru, it was really nice being able to see myself in characters like that

may i ask why u liked friren?
as an autistic person i kinda hated it.. it felt like conversion therapy or something, like it's bad to be autistic and u must change to be happy in life, felt like the message.
apothecary and dungeon meshi was more, u do u, be ur quirky self and people will learn to love u for who u are💕, ive never understood why people put these three in the same category when friren had the opposite message... did i miss something?
