Ophelia by Mallais. I was walking through the Tate and then there it was. Didn’t know that’s where it resides. It absolutely took my breath away

The first time I saw a Jackson Pollock at Moma. The first time I had a physical reaction to a painting

I've never seen all the great paintings in person. i don't live in europe/US & don't have the money to go & see. but I've learned abt them since i was young. maybe one day 🥹 Waterhouse's lady of shallot is my pick.

maybe it's recency bias from you discussing her recently, but Madame X knocked my socks off when I saw her in person years ago.

All of Turner’s works at the Tate and the National Gallery in London!
I first saw them a few hours after getting off of a plane and had the worst case of jet lag while doing so.
I actually fell asleep on a bench at the Tate!
I’d love to see them again with fresh eyes and a non-sleepy head.

Van Gogh starry night over the Rhône. Dreamy, wistful, powerful brush strokes. To me it is astounding.

The Pope works of Francis Bacon, they’re grotesque and harrowing to see in person with how large they ate. They are the only pieces of art that have made me feel so viscerally on edge!

entering the Louvre and coming up the stairs to meet the Victoire de Samothrace was such a unique, troubling moment for me. i have a tattoo of her, it's one of my favorite pieces. she's so enigmatic, and moving. beautiful
