They haven’t ran into a reoccurring npc yet but I set one up recently, they have however kept running into references to the hags from curse of strahd, last camping the hag coven the party was trying to take down was cousins with the CoS ones, now we’re in spelljammer and one of the commanders for the bral fleet said he buys dreamy pastries from their world

I weave in previous campaigns. We do pre-written adventures that we spice up. Last campaign was Wrath of the Righteous, where you lead a holy army fighting demons and closing a rift. My character ascended and became a god, the Rogue/Paladin started working to lead the country post war, the orc barbarian the the gnome bard left to continue adventuring, and the treeman Paladin went back to his order and said "first mission successful, what next?" when his mission was to go to the temple in another city. Im the dm this campaign, and its a pirate campaign. ive introduced a preacher of the new religion of my old character, had talks about how the queen is struggling with the paladin/rogue because they are working to instill a democracy and the queen won't vacate, and Ive put little nods that the gnome and barbarian travelled across the land spreading the tales of the heroes. its been fun
