@nickthecpa: Let me just stop you right there: “you can pay your kids to be a model for your business.” Yeah I get it, it’s not completely illegitimate when done right, but even when you actually do use them for promotional purposes (“modeling”) you still need to pay them a fee/wage that is within the realm of what it’d cost to hire any other child actor/model to perform the task you need. It’s not the hack that allows you to pay them whatever you feel like and honestly is probably harder to defend (because it’s often used and the defense and rarely done well) than just normal work for your business. Just saying! And you pay them a W2, not a 1099. And if you pay minor children out of an unincorporated entity owned by their parent(s) of the then you can avoid paying social security and Medicare taxes. I started paying my daughter to do stuff around the office at age 8. By age 10, she was answering phones. Clients are way nicer when a 10-year-old answers the phone 😂
