That’s not true. Influencer just mean people that ‘influence’ or have a following. It comes down to a respect or and interested in someone by a niche group of people. People don’t have to like influencers, but for some reason people will still find them noteworthy or entertaining. It used to be kings, then celebrities, now with everyone having a phone and social media platforms means it can be anybody. Anyone can be an influencer… but not everyone is. They’re basically leaders of a sort. You can change what they’re called, but what and influencer is won’t go away. This guy right here is an influencer too. Why? Because he’s promoting a personal brand and trying to influence an audience either through his personal brand or a business he owns.

I agree with your message about making money, but not the comment on “influencer.” I think they’re using it to positively describe someone that is making a real impact at helping others. The word that’s really overused is “leader.” Every post is some platitude about “creating more leaders.” We don’t need more leaders—we need better collaborators.
