@joshuaaalampour: I composed this right after my 18th birthday. I was very lonely growing up, but always found solace in rainy weather. I never understood why people wanted to stay indoors when it rained. I always saw it as an excuse to go outside. Rain has inspired me throughout my life - I composed 24 raindrop waltzes (one for each key) because of it. This is the 1st one in B minor. The remaining are unpublished, but maybe that’ll change one day. I’ve treated the main motif of this waltz as a letimotif that shows up in later works of mine. I feel like I don’t really get to choose what becomes motivic and what doesn’t in my work. It just naturally happens. #composer #piano #darkacademia
