@boricua.gringa: First: The viral TikTok about the Dominican Republic. A Dominican actor shared it, and now people are hunting for the original poster (who deleted her page). Here’s what I actually said: - I explained the lived experience of American women facing intense catcalling and harassment in DR—and how to stay safe. - At no point did I say ‘Don’t visit’ or ‘I hate this country.’ Critiquing misogyny ≠ hating a culture. - Calling out male entitlement globally is feminism 101. Silencing women who speak up? That’s defending patriarchy. And let’s be real: The DR is a soft-theocracy. From the Bible on the flag to religion in schools, it’s not a secret. There’s also documented discrimination against Haitians—checkpoints, ID demands—that white tourists don’t face. Does the U.S. have issues? Obviously. But feminism means holding -all- patriarchy accountable and if this reality triggers you than it requires self examination about why you value upholding patriarchy. Second: Someone made a fake TikTok of me, blocked me so I can’t report it, and is probably trying to scam or harass you. If they add you, REPORT THEM. Don’t engage—just shut it down. #feminism #theocracy #dr #rd #dominicanrepublic #usa #americanwomen #feministanalysis #fyp
