MONKEY BREAD RECIPE ⬇️ Homemade “junk food” is superior to anything they sell in grocery stores or serve at restaurants. Here’s a quick recipe to whip up some delicious monkey bread! Feel free to add in the sourdough discard or leave it out. INGREDIENTS: 2 tbsp melted butter 1 cup warm milk 1/3 cup warm water 1/4 cup cane sugar or honey 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet) 1 cup sourdough discard, optional 3 1/4 cups (462 g) all-purpose flour 2 tsp salt SUGAR COATING: 1 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp cinnamon 1/2 cup melted butter GLAZE, optional: 4 tbsp cream cheese 1/4 cup powdered sugar 2 tbsp milk DIRECTIONS: 1.) In a large bowl mix together milk, water, butter, sugar, yeast, and sourdough discard, if using. 2.) Add in flour and salt. Mix together until you have a smooth uniform dough ball. Can do this in a stand mixer as well. 3.) Add dough ball to a lightly greased bowl. Let rest until it doubles in size, about 2 hours. 4.) Make your brown sugar coating in a bowl. Once your dough has doubled in size, either cut or pinch off small balls of dough and toss them into the sugar coating. Toss to coat. 5.) Grease a 9x9 glass baking dish and add sugar coated dough balls to it. Place into a preheated oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes. NOTE: I like to place a piece of aluminum foil over the top of mine halfway through so that the center and bottom of the monkey bread gets cooked and isn’t gooey. 6.) Serge and enjoy!
