Only child of a divorce here! Got to go on ALL the holidays, experience all the memories, enjoy the entire cake bowl. 10/10 wouldn’t change it and had so much time poured into my development. I made incredible friends who are like siblings to me. Turning 30 in a few months with a masters, engaged and again, going on a holiday with my mum soon. I’ve missed zero because I’ve been given the resources and space to build something wonderful.

I feel like I see more women say that they loved being an only child and the men say they hate it😔currently have a boy and really thinking about being one and done. I would love another child but I just can’t do the first trimester all over again😵💫🔫

I think only children r lonely. Like yeah the have friends but as they age into adulthood it’s different. It seems sad to me. No aunts or uncles, cousins etc. the old only child adults r lonely and the younger ones seem like they’re missing something. It’s sad being in family settings and theirs no kids. They bring a different light into the space.

For any of the moms worrying about only having one child, you don’t have to, I was an only child and I had the time of my life and my mom is my best friend 😊don’t be pressured 😊

Only-child syndrome has been debunked. Multiple recent studies (US and beyond) show that only-children actually have better outcomes when it comes to academics and mental health. I’m one and my son will be one too! 😄

Agreed! The plan was 2 but when I was pregnant we started talking about only having one and then had a super traumatic birth so that sealed the deal 😂

I can’t imagine my life without my siblings. Who would I took to about all the funny games we used to make up and our old imaginary friends and who would have helped me pick out outfits in high school and stay up late with me on weekends when our parents were sleeping and help me plan surprises for mothers/Father’s Day and open Christmas gifts with and count my Halloween candy with and ugh I could go on and on

Only daughter here! 👋🏼 I have the best relationship with my mom & dad - they really are my best friends. It does get harder to see them age (I’m 30 now) but the memories and bond is beyond worth it.

Seeing the comments about parents, I just want to prioritize my mental health and therefore One and Done. I am not worried about being old and not taken care by my child. Postpartum, anxiety, depression and mental health affects you to the core and no one ever can understand, until experience by themselves🙏 So One and Done

I had the most insane imagination growing up. I loved being an only child. I have so many emotions behind this because my partner and I are just so happy with our beautiful girl. I feel like the only reason we talk about having 2 is because so many people talk negative about parents who choose to have just one. Wish we could just be happy for whatever choice people feel is best for them!

Sister n law is an only, her parents are passed and she still, in her 60’s, has a hard time at Holidays/milestones w/no siblings to share it with. My neighbor is an only and I am seeing her deal with both parents aging/illness alone, she is overwhelmed with no one else to lean on. Just a different perspective, as most people don’t think past childhood.

We are two and done and I fully support one and done. Society will make you think “what if”…don’t fall for it. Do what makes your family happy. More isn’t always better. Your ability to mentally, emotionally, and financially support one is more important than having more.
