It’s not whether it runs cooler or hotter when you run more oil in your gas. The carbon buildup is what you’re trying to reduce.

saws working really hard should be run fatter on oil. I'd recommend 40-1 over 50-1. It give a little bit of safety to the mix.

I run either 32:1 or 40:1 depending on the saw. I haven't had any problems with oiling ever.

when you add oil you reduce gas so jetting is required to maintain proper air to GAS mixture or it will be lean. a good quality air cooled engine premix is the best, yes there is a difference if the engine is air or water cooled.

I raced two stroke dirt bikes a kx125 years ago.We always ran 20-1. Over 100 hours just re ring never had to replace the crank bearings

Tune the engine to the fuel:oil mixture so tgat the AF ratio is the same. That’s the only way you will get an accurate reading and yes, 25:1 will make your engine last longer and be more resistant to wear, especially in a chainsaw that can rev to 13000rpms or 10000rpm in a cut

Iv ran 25:1 in my 260 since brand new in 2011. Its still like new now and cut 100s of cords same with my 170 50 :1 is for emmisions only

Run it 40:1, with premium high octane, NON-ethanol gas, and tune it appropriately, best down with RPM gauge.

I have a 1990 034 Stihl chainsaw still runs today no one has ever mixed the gas ⛽ but me I don't loan my chainsaw to no one nowadays I just buy the pre-mix that still Stihl for there chainsaws of course it's expensive
