Philae Temple in Egypt , located in Aswan, Egypt, was originally built on Philae Island in the Nile River south of Aswan. It is dedicated to the goddess of love Isis and famous for its stone carvings and mythological stories on stone wall reliefs. It is the place where ancient Egyptian religion has been preserved for the longest time. At the end of the 19th century, after the construction of the old Aswan Dam to store water, the original site of Philae Temple was partially submerged. Half a century later, the construction of the new dam completely submerged Philae Island. With the assistance of UNESCO, the temple was cut into more than 45,000 stones and more than 100 stone columns and moved to the nearby Agilkiya Island.
