If the person your dating a child is so bad towards you that your close to breaking up and YOU had to orchestrate the dad to set boundaries for his child that relationship was doomed from the start. The father should have done that on his own without you prompting him to.

the wild part about all this is Ethan is also an adult. A young adult but an adult. He needs to grow up. His dad also needs to grow up. Should've told him that "expect nothing from me" goes both ways in the real world. As an adult, few people will beg you to build a relationship after you've told them you want nothing to do with them and actively ignored them in their own home.
