to be fair, red letter Bibles are only a small percentage of Bibles and translations. also every denomination is taught to read the word and is taught that the Bible is the word, but how they are taught to translate it and how they are talk to connect with it are different between denominations. Catholics are taught that they're supposed to connect with the word through their priests and the saints. lutherans are taught something very similar. my mother taught us to read the word and find God in the word as we see it in the moment. and to continue to read the word and find God and connect closer with him with each new reading.

My husband was raised in the Episcopal Church. There are some similarities to the Catholic Church. He was never encouraged to read the Bible either. He was always referred to “The Book of Common Prayer.” He learned more about the Bible and how to have a relationship with God from his Boy Scouts troop than his church.

Catholics don’t read chapters the Bible. We read a scripture from the Old Testament, a scripture from the New Testament & then we have the gospel & homily. That’s the basis of Mass. To know Jesus & the entire Bible, you do that at home not at school or church.

As a cradle Catholic, I admit as a kid I didn’t learn to read the word of God. However, as an adult, we have learned that. Rich isn’t wrong though. We kind of have to teach ourselves how to have a true relationship with God. 🥰

Former Catholic here... got the school uniform pictures to prove it. I beleive everyone has their path to God, but with the corruption & cult like teachings... I left! I'm now a non denominational Christian, & an Episcopal church Administrator (my 9-5). I have my relationship with God & I dont need to ID with a denomination to have that. Live as God wants you too & youll be fine!

I worked with a lady who grew up catholic. She said until she became a Christian she had never read her Bible. She had a Bible in her house opened up on a table (displayed). That was it. Now she can't seem to get enough of God's word.
