The dictatorial regime of Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is currently preparing to unleash state-sponsored violence against the Togolese population, with a likely escalation expected around June 6, 2025. This warning is not speculative—it is based on visible, alarming developments already taking place on the ground. As I write this message, militias and military forces are being strategically deployed across towns and cities throughout the country. This situation bears chilling similarities to the events of 2005, when Faure Gnassingbé first seized power through bloodshed, following the death of his father, Gnassingbé Eyadéma, who had ruled for 38 years. Now, after 58 years of unbroken authoritarian rule by the same family, the people of Togo continue to suffer under a repressive regime that has consistently silenced dissent, manipulated elections, and brutally crushed civil liberties. The Togolese people are once again at risk of facing unspeakable violence. This email serves as a call to action to all media outlets, international human rights organizations, and institutions committed to democracy and justice: Shine a light on what is happening in Togo. Monitor the situation closely as June 6 approaches. Demand transparency and accountability from the Togolese government. Be prepared to document and report any crimes against the population. We urge you not to look away. International attention and pressure can help prevent a repeat of the atrocities of the past. Please stand with the people of Togo during this critical time. Sincerely
