As someone who doesn’t have a preference but does end up dating predominately POC, it’s bc many yt have not done the work on themselves and their views, social justice, community, even deconstructing their own inherent racism so i personally don’t connect

My strategy is that I see a beautiful woman, I stare, I get flustered, and I walk away and cry. 💀

lmaoo as an Asian woman who has a tendency to attract white lesbians who only date women of color, when I ask, they always say "culture". Girl. I am adopted. You want that American Irish Catholic culture?! 😂

1. Okay...thoughts. I think people who are *only* attracted to a certain demographic...are sus. Like that's too close to fetishizing interracial relationships. As someone who has been in a few interracial relationships (and also not), you have to go in eyes wide open...

The only strategy I have is like vaguely existing in a person’s direction

In my high school I was actually the minority and surrounded by black and brown people. I've been attracted since elementary lol. I don't date white women at all, and I am very aware of the cultural differences and the dynamics that take place in interracial relationships. I also understand why a lot of black women don't want to date or be associated with us. I have a very long list of things I genuinely love about y'all that are not fetishistic in nature. I have no strategy though, worst someone can say is no 🤷🏼‍♀️but it's harder and harder especially in today's climate

✨ Honestly sitting with this question—thank you for naming it. As someone still growing into my identity, I’ve realized I’m deeply drawn to the depth, soul, and presence that so many POC queer folks carry. It’s the entire aura. Grateful you’re opening this convo—it’s so needed, especially during Pride. 🌈💭

Having been raised in a racially diverse family, with 1 foreign parent and a black stepparent, and having lived in predominantly black neighborhoods growing up, I am open to dating any race. I have always felt I had more in common with black and Latina people than white American women.

sense of humour and interesting conversation. the cultural differences are hugely beneficial. expands the scope of both individuals in a relationship which offers a different kind of growth..

Lmao, no strategy here. I’m way too much of a big white wimp to talk to anyone, especially someone I’m actually attracted to 🥴 (in fact just making this TikTok comment is giving me anxiety so I’m gonna throw my phone out in the rain as soon as I press send)

In my experience, black people are authentic, will tell you the truth and are some of the kindest people, willing to help someone out, treat others with dignity. That's attractive and safe to me and who i want to be myself. I do wonder if I could be a supportive enough partner, cause I can never completely understand the black experience

Black women have an amazing confidence about them that you can’t find in any other race! And I love to boost that confidence even more!

After a few days of letting this simmer & my lil ginger section on this post 🙄 what I’ve gathered is that there SHOULD be SOME thoughts into all that comes with being with a POC. The thoughtlessness magnifies an issue & burden & will result in issues (& the thoughtlessness is an issue itself). I’d say a safe person to engage in the approach/relationship with a POC is a level of understanding, life experiences that can withstand complex issues that will arise & also, & knowing that race contributes to who your new interest is in this world. It’s giving “I don’t see color” & the erasure of what exists for POC which is explicitly a problem. I grew up in Detroit & am well versed, I am not “just white, so while I “get it”, but there’s still many layers of things that surely do arise. Will your partner be clueless & contribute to problems or be a safe place to walk hand & hand with you? There should be thought on both sides.
